Who is responsible
SITA, the State Information Technology Agency, is the responsible party for the personal information collected through this website. Cut to Black Media (Pty) Ltd processes that information on SITA’s behalf in order to run the Digital Public Service Awards.
What we collect
The name and contact details of the person or organisation being nominated. The name and contact details of the person making the nomination. The content of the entry itself, including the item submitted to show the work is real and any further material sent in support. Where you are shortlisted or win, information needed to confirm eligibility and to pay prize money, including banking details and a SARS tax compliance status pin.
Why we collect it
To assess entries and decide the Awards. To contact you about your entry. To confirm eligibility. To announce and publish results. To pay prize money. To report to SITA on the Awards.
Our lawful basis
Your consent, given at the point of entry, and the performance of a public function by SITA.
Who it is shared with
The adjudication panel, who assess entries. The external auditing firm appointed by SITA to audit the results. SITA. The publisher of results, for non-confidential information only. It is not shared with anybody else and it is not sold, rented or used for marketing.
Publication
Non-confidential information from your entry will be published on the GovTech website and in industry publications. Please do not submit confidential material.
Where it is held
Entry data is hosted in South Africa. Supporting documents sent by email are held in access-controlled storage and are not left in an open mailbox.
How long we keep it
Entry information is retained for three years from the close of the Awards and is then destroyed. Banking details are used once, for payment, and are not retained after the Awards are closed out.
Your rights
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, object to its processing, or ask for it to be deleted. Where you withdraw consent before the closing date, your entry is withdrawn.
How to exercise them
Write to nominations@cut2black.co.za. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
