Disability Inclusion Technology Award

Accessibility is usually treated as compliance. Done properly it is the difference between a person being able to do something and not.

What this award recognises

Recognises digital solutions that improve accessibility, independence and inclusion for persons living with disabilities.

Who may enter

Any South African individual, organisation, department, enterprise, researcher or provider.

What this award looks for

A solution shaped by the people who use it, that removes a barrier and can reach further.

How entries are judged in this category

  • C1, the work. The solution itself, and how well it works for the people it serves.
  • C2, the difference it made. What it lets people do that they could not do before.
  • Inclusion and lived experience. Whether persons with disabilities shaped it and are served well by it, and whether it can reach more people and last.

The three questions

  • What did they do?
  • What changed as a result?
  • How were persons with disabilities involved in building it, and how will it reach more people?

If you have any of these, they will strengthen your entry

  • A demo link or video. Accessibility test results, if you have them.
  • User numbers, and best of all a short quote from someone who uses it, with their permission.
  • How persons with disabilities were involved in building it. A note from a disability sector organisation.

One item proving the work is real is required. Email it to nominations@cut2black.co.za, with the award category and the name of the person or organisation you nominated in the subject line, at any time before 17:00 on 28 August 2026. Anything further on this list is welcome but not required.
