National Digital Infrastructure Award

Government cannot build every system itself. What it can do is insist that what industry builds leaves the state in control.

What this award recognises

Recognises ICT industry that has built sovereign digital infrastructure or platforms for the public sector.

Who may enter

ICT companies registered in South Africa, including local arms of multinationals.

What this award looks for

Infrastructure deployed with a public sector client, hosted and supported here, on terms that protect the state.

How entries are judged in this category

  • C1, the work. The infrastructure or platform delivered, and how well it performs.
  • C2, the difference it made. What it changed for the public institution using it, and through them for citizens.
  • Sovereign infrastructure. Hosted and supported in South Africa, with the state in control of its own data, and local skills built.

The three questions

  • What did they do?
  • What changed as a result?
  • How does this keep the client institution in control of its own data, and what South African skills did it build?

If you have any of these, they will strengthen your entry

  • A technical overview of the platform. Performance or SLA reports.
  • A letter or email from the public sector client saying what changed for them.
  • Written confirmation of hosting location. Records of skills transferred to South Africans, or SMMEs subcontracted.

One item proving the work is real is required. Email it to nominations@cut2black.co.za, with the award category and the name of the person or organisation you nominated in the subject line, at any time before 17:00 on 28 August 2026. Anything further on this list is welcome but not required.
