SITA AWARDS FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Drawn from the queries received on nominations@cut2black.co.za during the 2025 cycle.
Is there a fee to enter?
No. There is no fee to enter or to nominate, and no fee at any later stage.
Can I nominate someone else?
Yes. Most entries are nominations. You will be asked to confirm that you have told the person you are nominating them.
Can somebody nominate on my behalf?
Yes. An assistant, a colleague or an industry body may complete the entry. The form asks for the nominator’s name and email so that we can come back with a question if we need to.
How long does the entry take?
About twenty minutes. There are three questions of roughly 250 words each, and a small number of contact fields and declarations.
Do I need to attach documents?
Nothing is attached to the website. Everything is emailed. One thing is required: something showing the work is real, which can be a photograph, a link, a screenshot, a short video or a document. Email it to nominations@cut2black.co.za, with the award category and the name of the person or organisation you nominated in the subject line. Beyond that, further material is welcome but never required.
What if I do not have all the detail?
Answer what you can. The three questions are written to be answered by somebody who knows the work broadly. You do not need technical detail.
Can I enter more than one category?
Yes, where you are eligible for each. Submit a separate entry for each category.
Who judges the entries?
An independent panel drawn from government, industry, academia and enterprise, appointed by SITA. The panel serves on a voluntary basis.
How are the results checked?
Every score sheet is captured, reconciled and audited by an external accredited auditing firm approved by SITA.
When will I hear?
Winners are contacted confidentially before the conference and announced at the Awards gala at GovTech 2026.
When will winners be paid?
Prize money is paid by SITA within 90 days of the announcement at GovTech 2026, once banking details and tax compliance status have been provided and the entry has passed validation.
Will my entry be made public?
Non-confidential information in your entry may be published on the GovTech website and in industry publications. Do not submit confidential material.
